In July I went to the Mentawai's for an ISC contest and the waves were insane, so I put together a boys trip to go back there in late August. Our crew was Andrew Walker, Jason Trump, Morgan, Sanu, Aldino, Kimo, and Julien. We've all been friends since we were groms so it was a lot more chilled out than the usual photo trip. A few days ago we were all stuck in Kupang on the way to Rote for the contest. The winds were too strong for the ferry to operate so I broke out the Posca's and did some scribbles to pass the time. One on Yudha's board, and one on Betet's.

I recently just had the crew from O'Neill Australia over, we scored some super fun waves, shot a catalogue and had some good times. The Team was in good form with Cansdell blowing minds everywhere we went, congrats to him to for qualifying for Taylor Steeles Innersection movie and the chance to win 100k, (with a couple of deadly tubes at a secret spot i took him to making the cut, I think it'll be Cans' shout if he takes it out!). Also our little Bali team groms Made "50 cent" Teddy & Reef were impressing the Internationals and mixing it up with USA grom Colt Ward. Good times all round!!

This is a video from our Super surfboards trip to Yamba in Oz earlier this year. The wind was howling but we found some fun ramps. Clay was going beserk. Fun times!

On Monday the Rip Curl Cup at Padang finally ran after a few false alarms. My son Varun didn't want to go to school so I took him to the beach with me. He sat in the channel on the zodiac and watched my heats, he was loving it. In the morning it was a bit bumpy and not really barrelling so they took a break, then the wind switched and with the outgoing tide Padang turned on - perfect barrels! Today Stab magazine put a sequence of me on their site with a cool story. Click HERE to read it.

I just got back into the water after a few weeks of rest while I had dengue fever. I caught it in either Java, the Mentawai's, or Lombok last month during the contest leg. I lost 5kg's.. I was already skinny enough! These photos are by Agus, a local guy at Keramas who has just started selling pics to tourists. Hit him up for the morning price deal.

Last week I flew out to Jakarta for few days to meet some media and check out the FHM party Oakley was sponsoring. While I was there I stopped by at Esquire mag for an interview and a photoshoot. They asked questions about surfing mostly, but they were also interested in my art. The shoot was pretty relaxed, although it did take 3 hours. The photographer is supposed to be a big time legend, but he was cool and helpful. It was a good experience but I was getting antsy because I knew the waves were pumping back in Bali !

Last Saturday night we opened our 6th Hurley store in Bali at 'Bali Collection', Nusa Dua. A lot of friends from the industry came along to enjoy the food, drinks, and music. Local bands 'The Hydrant' and 'Nymphea' rocked into the night and everyone had a good time, as you can see in these photos from lifewithoutandy.com
