Lembongan Surf Team Annual Contest to Run on August 18-19
The longest running local surfing event held in Indonesia, “The Lembongan Surf Contest” presented by Billabong marks it's 11th anniversary on the 19th & 20th August 2012 as 65 competitors in 4 divisions (Masters, Opens, Grommets & Airshow) battle for the title of LST Champion.
An event compromising of some of the ISC (Indonesian Surfing Championship) tour’s top guns battling it out upon their own local reefs, we will see the likes of Agus Frimanto, Putra Hermawan, Putu Anggara, and Wayan Susiana challenging other LST team members such as Kudul, Planet, Werdi, Agus P, and Balon to push the limits & to know no boundaries.
This 2 day event begins at the legendary “Shipwrecks” reef, a wave that allows for high performance surfing and then onto the famous “Lacerations” when the swell begins to peak, setting the stage for deep barrels over a shallow razor sharp reef.
With solid swells pumping through Bali lately contest director, Wayan Lena, has elected to run this year’s event in solid 5-7ft conditions – allowing the team’s youngest competitors to put on a fierce display of their talents; prior to the next back to back 10ft swells expected to thunder down the reefs in the days to follow.
LST has proven over the years to being a breeding ground of champions and this year holds no exceptions. Young guns like Komo Wilson (Quiksilver) and Ediana Buncis (previously with Rusty), whom dominated last year’s Billabong Pro Junior event held in Lembongan, are determined to score 10 point rides, no matter what!
